منذ الخميس، في 16 أيار 2024، تنشر حسابات على «إكس» (غالباً، وهمية) صورة لأسلحة ضبطها الجيش مرفقة مع صورة أخرى يفترض أنها لسوريين، أوقفهم الجيش في جبيل وبحوزتهم أسلحة، فيما زعم حساب وحيد أن الصورتين من مخيم في البقاع وأضاف إلى الأسلحة المخدرات. هذا خبر كاذب.
أولاً، الأسلحة
الأسلحة، في الصورة الأولى، لا تعود إلى سوريين، بل إلى «المواطن (ط.ا.)»، وقد أوقف في السبتية (المتن) لـ«إقدامه على الاتجار بالأسلحة والذخائر الحربية، وضُبطت في منزله كمية كبيرة منها بالإضافة إلى أعتدة عسكرية»، وفق بيان للجيش صدر في 3 أيار.
ثانياً، الموقوفون
الصورة الثانية، نشرها الجيش ضمن بيانه، الصادر في 15 أيار، عن «نتيجة التدابير الأمنية التي اتخذها في مختلف المناطق خلال نيسان 2024». ويمكن الافتراض، بناء على تجارب الجيش السابقة، والطريقة المذلة التي يجلس فيها الموقوفون، أنهم سوريون بالفعل.
ثالثاً، الالتباس المقصود؟
الحال أن الصورتين، مع صور أخرى، نشرتا مع بيان «نتيجة التدابير الأمنية» لشهر نيسان الماضي. وهذا البيان، الذي يصدر شهرياً في اليوم الـ15 من الشهر، لا يفصّل أبداً هوية الموقوفين ولا الجرائم التي ارتكبوها، ولا يوضح مكان وزمان الصور المرفقة به، مكتفياً بتعداد الموقوفين وأنواع الجرائم والمضبوطات وأنواعها، وذكر عدد السوريين/ات الذين أُحبطت «محاولات تسللهم عبر الحدود اللبنانية – السورية بطريقة غير شرعية».
وهذه ليست المرة الأولى التي تستغل فيها صور متجاورة في بيان صادر عن الجيش- الشريك في التحريض على السوريين/ات- في فبركة أخبار كاذبة عنهم/ن. ففي أيلول 2023، تداول صحافيون/ات وناشطون على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، على نطاق واسع، صوراً لأسلحة نُسبت زوراً إلى سوريين/ات، وكان مصدر هذه الصور بيانات الجيش غير المفصلة نفسها.
إلى اليوم، لا يزال مسؤولون لبنانيون ووسائل إعلام يشيرون إلى تلك الصور و«بيانات الجيش»، باعتبارها دليلاً على تسلح السوريين/ات وإمتلاكهم/ن كميات كبيرة من الأسلحة. وإذا كنا لا نعرف ما فائدة بيانات الجيش الغامضة وغير المفصلة عن «انجازاته» الشهرية، فإننا والحال هذه صرنا نعرف ضررها على الأقل.
Fake News: No Weapons Seized from Syrians in Jbeil
Since Thursday, May 16, 2024, accounts on “X” (mostly fake) have been publishing a picture of weapons seized by the army accompanied by another picture supposed to be of Syrian individuals whom the army allegedly detained in Jbeil with weapons, while one account claimed that the pictures were from a camp in the Bekaa Valley and added drugs to the weapons. This is fake news.
First, The Weapons
Weapons in the first image do not belong to Syrians, but to “the citizen (T.A.)”, who was arrested in Sabtieh (Al-Maten) for “engaging in arms and ammunition trafficking, and a large quantity of them was seized in his house, in addition to military equipment,” according to a statement issued by the army on May 3rd.
Second, The Detainees
The second image, released by the army as part of its statement issued on May 15th, pertains to “the results of the security measures taken in various areas during April 2024.” Based on the army’s previous experiences and the demeaning manner in which they are seated shows that they are Syrians indeed.
Third, The intended Confusion
The two images, along with others, were published with the statement “the results of the security measures” for the previous month of April. This statement, issued monthly on the 15th day of the month, never details the identity of the detainees or the crimes they committed, nor does it specify the location and time of the accompanying images. It only lists the number of detainees, types of crimes, confiscated items, and the number of Syrians involved in “attempts to illegally cross the Lebanese-Syrian border”.
This isn’t the first time that adjacent images have been exploited in a statement issued by the army – a partner in inciting against Syrians – to fabricate false news about them. In September 2023, journalists and activists widely circulated images falsely attributed to Syrians on social media. The source of these images was the army’s own undetailed statements.
Up till Today, Lebanese officials and media still refer to those images and “army statements” as evidence of the arming of Syrians and their possession of large quantities of weapons. And if we don’t know the benefit of the vague and undetailed army statements about its monthly “achievements,” we at least now know their harm.
