خلال إعدادها تقريراً عن شبكة اغتصاب وابتزاز قصر، التي يتهم الحلاق الرجالي جورج المبيض (وهو تيكتوكر معروف) بالتورط فيها، سألت الصحافية في جريدة نداء الوطن نوال نصر معارفه، الذين التقت بهم خلال زيارتها لمحله في سد البوشرية، إن كانت عائلته لبنانية. السؤال قد يبدو غريباً، لكن ليس عند نصر، بطبيعة الحال. فلا بد أن هذه الجريمة، كما غيرها، لها جذور في جنسية أخرى تفسرها، غير تلك التي نحملها وتحملها.
وإذا كان السؤال ليس عيباً، في أي حال، فإن إدراجه مع جوابه في التقرير، الذي نشر الجمعة في 3 أيار 2024، بعنوان «التيكتوكرز جوفي: حلاق بعمر الـ 12… ومغتصب بعمر الـ50»، خِسة وقلة مهنية وعنصرية، بكل تأكيد.
هكذا، كتبت نصر: «باب الصالون الحديدي مقفل وعليه ورقة نعوة: قداس وجناز بمناسبة مرور أربعين يوماً على وفاة سيسيليا عبود زوجة الياس المبيض. هو أربعين والدته. والموعد في العاشر من أيار هذا. هم لبنانيون؟ يجيب أحد المعارف: والده كان يتكلم اللهجة السورية».

While preparing a report on a network involved in the rape and blackmail of minors, which implicates the male hairdresser George Al Mubayed (a well-known TikToker), journalist Nawal Nasr of Al Watan newspaper asked his acquaintances, whom she met during her visit to his shop in Sodeco, if his family was Lebanese. The question might seem strange, but not to Nasr, of course. For, like other crimes, this one likely has roots in another nationality that explains it, beyond the one we hold and carry.
And if asking such question isn’t a shame, in any case, including it along with its answer in the report, published on Friday, May 3, 2024, under the title “TikToker Joey: A Barber since he was 12… and a Rapist in his 50 years old,” is certainly unprofessional, derogatory, and racist.
Nasr wrote: “The iron gate of the salon is locked, with a funeral notice pinned to it: a memorial prayer and funeral marking the passing of Cecilia Aboud, the wife of Elias Al Mubayed. It’s her 40th day since passing. The date is the tenth of May. Are they Lebanese? One acquaintance answers: His father spoke the Syrian dialect.”
