من عادة نوال نصر، الصحافية في جريدة نداء الوطن، أن تذكر لقرائها أي سوري/ة تراه، إن كان «وجود» السوريين/ات في صلب موضوع تقريرها أم لا. مرة ذكرت أنها التقت عامل دليفري في المصعد. ومرة كتبت أنها رأت شباناً سوريين «مشلوحين على الطرقات» في الطريق الجديدة. ومرة أخبرتنا أنها رأت، في طريقها إلى مقر محافظ بيروت، بهدف تلميع صورته (بعدما تسبب حارس في البلدية بمقتل شاب سوري)، عمالاً سوريين يزرعون الورود في حديقة سمير قصير. وعندما وصلت إلى المبنى، اكتشفت أن سورياً يعمل في المحافظة نفسها. ولكم/ن أن تتخيلوا صدمتها.
عليه، إذا كان وجود أي سوري/ة في مجال الرؤية يحفزها على التحريض، لن يفوت نصر الكتابة عن جريمة يُشتبه بتورط سوريين/ات بها. وهي فعلت ذلك من قبل، حين جمعت عدداً من جرائم القتل التي ارتكبها سوريون في تقرير واحد («هل يكفي هتاف: اطردوا النازحين السوريين؟»، 28 تشرين الثاني 2022). كأنها سلسلة متصلة، لا حوادث متفرقة لا تكفي وحدة جنسية فاعليها للربط بينها.
وهذا ما استكملته، مجدداً، كما لو أنها في مهمة مستمرة من أجل بلادنا، بعد جريمة حصلت في الأشرفية (31 آذار 2024)، راح ضحيتها رجل مسن. إذ كتبت، في 3 نيسان، تقريراً عنوانه «السورية زبيدة خططت ونفذت… والأشرفية في عين الخطر»، فيه الكثير من كلاسيكياتها العنصرية والتحريضية. وقد اخترنا أن نعرض مقطعي البداية والنهاية.
البداية
يا الله على هذه «الميتات» المتكررة، المتنقلة من حيّ إلى ثانٍ إلى ثالث إلى رابع في بيروت المنهكة – وللأشرفية حصتها الأكبر من مشهدية الموت تلك. أهي صدفة أن يكون أبطال الجرائم المتتالية سوريين وسوريات؟ صدقاً لم نعد نعرف كيف يحصل كل ذلك ويبقى المجرمون، ومن لديهم جينات إجرام، يسرحون ويمرحون!
النهاية
ربما أصبح لزاماً علينا أن نسأل: من هو التالي؟ من سيدفع ثمن هذا الإستسلام الهائل من دولة إذا قلنا عنها عاجزة مستهترة يكون قليلاً عليها. الأشرفية اليوم في عين الخطر من جديد. فماذا عن الخطوة التالية لإيقاف سيل الموت الرخيص من غرباء لا يشبعون؟
A Crime in Ashrafieh (2): Nawal Nasr is on an ongoing mission
Nawal Nasr, the journalist at Al-Watan newspaper, has a habit of mentioning any Syrian individual she encounters, whether their “presence” is central to her report’s subject or not. Once she mentioned encountering a delivery worker in the elevator. Another time, she wrote about seeing Syrian youths “loitering on the streets” in Tareek Al-Jdidi area. Once she informed us that, on her way to the Beirut governor’s office, with the aim of polishing his image (after a municipal guard caused the death of a young Syrian), she saw Syrian workers planting flowers in Samir Kassir Garden. Upon arriving at the building, she discovered that a Syrian was working in the governorate itself. You can imagine her shock!
As a result, if the presence of any Syrian in her field of vision stimulates her to incite, Nasr will not miss writing about a crime suspected of involving Syrians. She has done so before when she compiled a number of murders committed by Syrians in one report (“Is this Slogan Sufficient: Expel the Syrian Refugees?” November 28, 2022). It’s as if they were a connected series, not isolated incidents that do not require a single nationality for linking them together.
And this is what she performed, again, as if she were on a continuous mission for our country, following a crime that occurred in Ashrafieh (March 31, 2024), in which an elderly man was victimized. On April 3, she wrote a report titled “The Syrian, Zubeida, Planned and Executed… and Ashrafieh is in Danger,” containing many of her classical racism and provocative elements. We have chosen to present two excerpts; the beginning and the end.
The beginning
Oh God, with these repeated “deaths”, moving from one neighborhood to another in exhausted Beirut – and Ashrafieh has its fair share of this deathly scene. Is it mere coincidence that the perpetrators of these successive crimes are Syrians? Frankly, we no longer understand how all of this happens and the criminals, with their criminal genes, roam freely and frolic!
The End
Perhaps it has become imperative for us to ask: Who is next? Who will pay the price for this immense surrender of a state, if we describe it as helpless and disdainful, it would be too little for it. Today, Ashrafieh is once again in danger. So what about the next step to stop the torrent of cheap death from strangers who are never satisfied?
