إذا وصلنا إلى زمن ستستلهم فيه رواية ما حياة المنسق العام للحملة الوطنية لإعادة النازحين السوريين مارون الخولي، فلا بد أن يكون عنوانها «الانتهازي».
لا يعتمد الخولي، بالضرورة، الانتهازية أسلوب حياة، رغم أنه احتمال وجيه. من يعرف؟ لكن الأكيد أنه ينتهز أي فرصة للتحريض على السوريين/ات في لبنان، حتى ما قد يبدو لنا ولكم/ن شطحاً غريباً في خيال الشر، مثل الخبر الأول.
1: الشويفات
في 19 شباط 2024، انهار مبنى في الشويفات، تعيش فيه 4 عائلات من سوريا. النتيجة: لا خسارة هذه الأسر بيوتها فحسب، بل سقوط 4 قتلى وعدد من الجرحى.
سمع الانتهازي الخبر. تحمس وأصدر بياناً، في 20 شباط، أدان فيه الحادثة واعتبرها «نتيجة مباشرة لهذا الإهمال والفوضى التي يعيش فيها النازحون السوريون في لبنان، وهذا الوضع المأساوي ليس سوى نتيجة تراكم الإهمال من قبل الحكومة اللبنانية والبلديات والمفوضية السامية لشؤون اللاجئين».
وأشار إلى «الاستياء الشديد وغضب الشعب اللبناني من الوضع الراهن، الذي وصلت فيه مستويات الفوضى والإهمال إلى أقصى الحدود»، مذكراً بأن لبنان «يشهد حالياً وضعاً مأساوياً، يتسم بانتشار النازحين السوريين في أكثر من 1000 بلدة، من أصل 1050، دون أي رقابة أو تنظيم من السلطات المعنية».
ماذا يمكن أن نقول؟ أفكار كثيرة يجلبها هذا العبث. هل نقول مثلاً: لا علاقة سببية بين انهار المبنى وجنسية ساكنيه. أو أن لبنانيين/ات يعيشون في بيوت انهارت أو مهددة بالانهيار. أو…؟
2: قبرص
إذا شعرتم/ن بأي تعاطف في التصريح السابق تجاه البؤس الفعلي الذي تعيش فيه غالبية السوريين/ات في لبنان، فإنه حيلة الانتهازي وأداته ليس أكثر. هو، في الواقع، لا يراهم/ن إلا نفايات.
فقبل أيام من انهيار مبنى الشويفات، رفضت الحكومة اللبنانية إعادة استقبال سوريين/ات هاجروا/ن، عبر البحر، إلى قبرص. في تعليقه على ذلك، خلال اجتماع منسقية الحملة العنصرية في عكار، في 16 شباط، اعتبر الانتهازي أن «رفض لبنان الجريء لقبول المهاجرين يبعث برسالة واضحة: لقد طفح الكيل. إن أمتنا، المثقلة بصراعاتها، لا يمكن أن تكون مكب نفايات دائم. لقد حان الوقت لكي تقبل سوريا مسؤوليتها وترحب بعودة مواطنيها».
The Opportunistic
If we ever reach a time when a novel is inspired by the life of Maroun Al-Khawli, the General Coordinator of the National Campaign for the Return of Syrian Refugees, its title must be “The Opportunistic”.
Al-Khawli does not necessarily embody opportunism as a lifestyle, although it is a plausible possibility. Who knows? 1: Al-Chouaifet
On February 19, 2024, a building collapsed in Al-Chouaifet, where four Syrian families resided. As a result, not only did these families lose their homes, but also four people lost their lives and several others were injured.
The opportunistic heard the news. He got excited and issued a statement on February 20, condemning the incident and considering it “a direct result of the neglect and chaos experienced by Syrian refugees in Lebanon. This tragic situation is nothing but the culmination of neglect by the Lebanese government, municipalities, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees”.
He also pointed out “the strong dissatisfaction and anger of the Lebanese people with the current situation, where levels of chaos and neglect have reached their peak”, reminding that Lebanon “is currently witnessing a tragic situation, characterized by the spread of Syrian refugees in more than 1000 out of 1050 towns, without any supervision or regulation from the relevant authorities”.
What can we say? This chaos brings forth many thoughts. For instance, do we say: There is no causal relationship between the collapse of the building and the nationality of its occupants? Or do we highlight that Lebanese people are living in homes that have collapsed or are at risk of collapsing? Or…?
2: Cyprus
If you sensed any sympathy in the previous statement towards the actual misery experienced by the majority of Syrians in Lebanon, it’s merely the opportunistic maneuver and tool. In reality, he only sees them as garbage.
Days before the collapse of the building in Al-Chouaifet, the Lebanese government refused to accept Syrians who had migrated by sea to Cyprus. Commenting on this during a meeting of the Racism Coordination Campaign in Akkar on February 16, the opportunistic considered “Lebanon’s bold refusal to accept immigrants as sending a clear message: Enough is enough. Our nation, burdened with its own conflicts, cannot be a permanent garbage dump. It is time for Syria to accept its responsibility and welcome back its citizens”.
