المغتصب رامي عدوان يعود إلى بلاد الإفلات من العقاب

أمس، في 21 حزيران 2023، عاد سفير لبنان لدى فرنسا المغتصب رامي عدوان إلى لبنان، وفق ما أعلن وزير الخارجية عبدالله بو حبيب في مؤتمر صحافي، في اليوم السابق. ما يعني أن عدوان، الذي اتهمته موظفتان في سفارة باريس بالاغتصاب واستعمال العنف والنفوذ ضدهما بين عامي 2017 و2022، صار بآمان الآن بين أهله وتياره، التيار الوطني الحر.

وما يعزز احتمالات إفلات عدوان من أي عقاب بو حبيب نفسه، بطبيعة الحال. إذ قال، في المؤتمر الصحافي نفسه، إنه سيحيل «على وزارة العدل كل ما ورد إلينا من معلومات، والمحاكم تقرر ما إذا كان قد حصل خطأ أم لا».

لا نبني شكوكنا هذه على توصيف جريمتي اغتصاب بـ«خطأ» فحسب، بل على الزعم بأن اللجوء إلى القضاء اللبناني يُمكن أن يؤمن أي حق أو عدالة للضحايا أيضاً.

The rapist, Rami Adwan, returns to the land of impunity

According to a press conference held by the Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, the rapist Lebanese ambassador to France, Rami Adwan, has returned to Lebanon yesterday, on June 21st. 

This implies that Adwan, who is accused of rape and the use of violence and authority against two employees of the Lebanese embassy in Paris between 2017 and 2022, is now safe and sound among his family and his party, the Free Patriotic Movement.

Bou Habib himself has increased the chances of Adwan going unpunished when he stated, in the same press conference, that he will “refer all received information to the Ministry of Justice and let the courts decide whether or not a mistake had occurred.”

Not only do we have serious reasons to be suspicious when two rape crimes are described as a “mistake”, but we also highly doubt that the Lebanese judiciary can bring any kind of rights or justice to the victims.
