استكمالاً لحملة القمع، التي تلت مطالبة «أخبار الساحة» مسرح مونو بوقف عرض مسرحية «أنّا أو» للمتحرش المتسلسل جو قديح، في آذار الماضي، استدعى مكتب مكافحة الجرائم المعلوماتية رئيسة تحرير موقع «شريكة ولكن» حياة مرشاد إلى التحقيق، في الأول من حزيران المقبل، على خلفية الدعاوى التي تقدم بها قديح ضد من شارك في الحملة، بما في ذلك «أخبار الساحة» وسابين شقير وإحدى الناشطات على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.
ففي 30 آذار الماضي، أستدعيت سابين شقير، مؤسِسة «كلاون مي إن»، إلى التحقيق، لأن فرقتها قررت نقل عرضها من مسرح مونو احتجاجاً على استمرار عرض مسرحية قديح، من دون أن تُصدر أي بيان أو تصريح علني بشأن المسألة. لكن ملف الدعوى ضدها تضمن تشييرها بوستاً في العام 2020 (أي السنة التي نُشرت فيها 18 شهادة عن تحرشات واعتداءات قديح) نشرته إحدى الناشطات عن القضية.
وفي اليوم نفسه، استدعيت ناشطة على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي إلى التحقيق، لأنها أعادت نشر الشهادات عبر صفحتها وطالبت مسرح مونو باتخاذ موقف واضح من قديح. بعد خضوعها للتحقيق، أجبرت على حذف البوستات وتوقيع تعهد (غير قانوني) بعدم التعرض لقديح مجدداً.
منذ العام 2020، لم تتحرك أي جهة أمنية أو قضائية للتحقيق مع قديح ومحاسبته على التهم التي وجهت إليه من خلال الشهادات، وبعضها كان لتلميذاته القاصرات. لكننا نرى، الآن، اندفاعاً لحماية المتحرش والدفاع عنه، وقمع واستهداف فاضحيه. لا بل تُتاح له مجالات أوسع لاستكمال مسيرته الإجرامية، كما فعل مسرح مونو، الذي رغم وقف عرض مسرحيته بعد الحملة، لم يعترف بخطئه، إذ أصرت مديرته جوزيان بولس على الكذب ونفي علاقة قديح بالمسرحية. كما عمد المسرح إلى حجب كل انتقاد وجه إليه عبر صفحاته في مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.
واليوم، قديح شريك في مؤسسة اسمها «District 7 Beirut»، تقدم تدريبات لأطفال وراشدين/ات في عدد من الفنون، ما يعني أن خطره على النساء لا يزال راهناً، خصوصاً أنه لم يعترف بعد بجرائمه ولم يعتذر من ضحاياه.
قديح ليس المتحرش الأول الذي يحتمي بالقوانين. متحرشون كثر يفعلون. ومرشاد ليست الأولى التي تُستدعى ولن تكون الأخيرة، طالما أن القوانين مُكرسة لحماية المتحرشين، لا لحماية الضحايا وتحقيق العدالة لهن.

The shameless Joe Kodeih
Keeping up with the repressive campaign that followed Akhbar Al-Saha’s demand on March 2023 for “Le Monot Theatre” to stop displaying the play “Anna O” directed by the serial harasser Joe Kodeih, the Cybercrime Bureau summoned Hayat Mirshad, the editor-in-chief of “Sharika wa Laken” website, for an investigation on June 1st. This summon is connected to the lawsuit brought by Kodeih against those who took part in the campaign, including “Akhbar al-Saha” themselves, Sabine Choucair, and a social media activist.
The founder of “Clown Me In,” Sabine Choucair, was summoned to an investigation on March 30 after her group decided not to perform at “Le Monot Theatre” in protest of the showcasing of Kodeih’s play there. She didn’t even make a formal public statement but the fact that she shared a post published by an activist about the case, in 2020 (i.e. the year in which 18 testimonies of Kodeih’s harassment and assaults were published) was brought as evidence against her.
Another activist was also called in for questioning on that same day because she had reposted the testimonies on her page and demanded that “Le Monot Theatre” adopt a clear stance against Kodeih. After the interrogation, she was made to delete the posts and sign an illegal pledge not to attack him ever again.
Since 2020, neither the security nor the judicial authorities have taken any action to look into the allegations presented in the testimonies against Kodeih. He was not held accountable for them, despite the fact that some of them involved his underage female students. It seems like everyone is running to defend and protect the harasser and silence those who expose him.
Kodeih is even being given more opportunities to go on with his crimes. “Le Monot Theatre”, despite ceasing the performances of the play, refused to acknowledge their mistake. The theater director, Josianne Boulos, is still insisting on denying Kodeih’s connection with the play. Additionally, “Le Monot Theatre” purposefully blocked all people posting against him on its social media pages.
Kodeih, who is yet to confess his crimes and apologize to his victims, is still a great threat to women, especially now that he became a partner in an organization called “District 7 Beirut” which trains kids and adults in a variety of arts.
Like many other harassers, he is not the first to seek protection from the law. Murshad is not the first to be summoned nor will she be the last, as long as the laws are dedicated to defend harassers, rather than protecting victims and bringing out justice.
