قررت بلدية جعيتا (قضاء كسروان) «حظر تجوّل العمال الأجانب على الطرقات العامة من الساعة السابعة مساءً ولغاية الساعة السادسة صباحاً»، بحسب قرار أصدرته في يوم 20 نيسان الحالي. 

هذه ليست المرة الأولى التي تُصدر فيها بلدية جعيتا قراراً طبقياً عنصرياً بحق العمال الأجانب واللاجئين/ات السوريين/ات. إذ سبق أن قامت بإيقاف جميع العمال الأجانب الذين يعلمون بصورة غير «شرعية» وأغلقت محلّات بالشمع الأحمر عام 2019. 

يأتي ذلك في ظل سلسلة قرارات وممارسات عنصرية تنتهجها البلديات في لبنان، تضيّق من خلالها على العمّال واللاجئين/ات.

The municipality of Jeita oppresses “foreign workers”

The municipality of Jeita (Keserwan district) has determined, according to a decision issued on the 20th of April,  to “ban foreign workers from roaming around on public roads, from 7 pm until 6 am”.

This isn’t the first time that the municipality has issued such a racist and a classist decision against foreign workers  and Syrian refugees, as it had previously arrested foreigners workers who were working “illegally” and had closed some shops, stamping them with red wax, in 2019.  

This comes in light with a series of racist decisions and practices pursued by the municipalities of Lebanon, through which workers and refugees get restricted.
