بعد القرار العنصري وغير القانوني الذي أصدرته بلدية الماري والمجيدية (قضاء حاصبيا)، الأربعاء الماضي، بالحجر على اللاجئين/ات السوريين/ات في نطاقها، بحجة «الاشتباه» بإصابة عائلة سورية بالكوليرا، تبيّن أن 7 من أصل 9 أفراد من العائلة، الذين أسعفوا إلى مستشفى مرجعيون الحكومي، شُخصت حالتهم/ن بأنها تسمّم ناتج عن تناول جبنة فاسدة. 

وبعد تأكد فريق تقصي الوباء التابع لوزارة الصحة من ذلك، خرجت العائلة من المستشفى لتتابع العلاج الاعتيادي في المنزل.

ورغم ذلك، لم تصدر البلدية (ورئيسها يوسف فياض)، حتى الآن، أي توضيح واعتذار من اللاجئين/ات المستهدفين/ات بقرارها التعسفي. وسيبقى «القرار القضائي»، الذي استندت إليه، والمُلفق في الغالب، سراً غامضاً لن نعرف عنه شيئاً.

Will al-Mari and al-Majidiyeh apologize to the Syrian refugees?

After the racist and illegal decision issued by the municipality of al-Mari and al-Majidiyeh (Hasbayya district) last Wednesday, that includes imposing quarantine on Syrian refugees in its scope, under the excuse of “suspecting” that a Syrian family had contracted Cholera, it was found that 7 out of 9 family members, who were transferred to the Marjayoun Governmental Hospital, were actually diagnosed with food poisoning from eating spoiled cheese.

After the epidemic investigation team at the Ministry of Health confirmed this, the family was eventually discharged from the hospital, and they are set to proceed with the usual treatment at their home. 

And despite this, the municipality (and its president, Youssef Fayyad), have not yet circulated any clarification or apology to the refugees that they targeted in its arbitrary decision. 

The “judicial decision” on which the statement was based, is mostly made up, and it will always be a blurry secret that we’ll never know anything about.
