In the past days, army intelligence stormed into Syrian refugee camps in Bekaa, to complete the raid campaign that they had started with the aim of confiscating internet transmission devices (the router).

Refugees from “Al-Hour”, “Al-Salam”, “Al-Rahma”, “Al-Abrar”, “Al-Yasmine”, “Al-Jarahia”, and “Al-Omria” camps told “Akhbar Al-Saha” that throughout the past four months, they were informed by the “Shawish” (Leader around the camp), that they must dispose of the routers. The first incursion occurred on 30th of last July, in Al-Jarahia camp (camp 001).

Breaking into the camps were led with violent physical attacks against the refugees.

According to the story of a witness, an army intelligence officer slapped a young man and ordered him to “look at the ground”, in camp 007, within “Al-Jarahia”.

As for camp 078, TVs were destroyed in some tents. Motorcycles and solar energy devices were also confiscated, under the excuse that they were prohibited.

Another witness, from “AlOmaria” camp, stated that the raids initiated two months ago, where army Intelligence officers stormed her house at six am in the morning. They seized the router, put it in a bag, and left amid a state of panic. At first she said, “we thought they had come to arrest young men who did not hold a residency permit”.

Abo Adnan, a Shawish in one of the camps, assured that he was informed of the decision by the Army Intelligence around four months ago, however the raids commenced two months ago, and continued during this last period.

This measure comes for the purpose of adding restrictions on the refugees, with the intention of pushing them to leave Lebanon, towards the areas that are controlled by the Syrian regime.
